Home Made Taco Sauce

I was shopping for a healthy version of taco sauce and couldn't find any.  So, I decided to search the internet.  Some recipes seemed more complicated than necessary...I like simplicity.

Here is the one I tried.  It's simple and tasted pretty good too.

HOME MADE TACO SAUCE  recipe by Shifrah Devorah and Zipporah Malka

1  8oz can Tomato Sauce
1/3 C Water
1/4 tsp  Chili Powder
1 1/2 tsp  Cumin
1 1/2 tsp Dried Minced Onion
1 Tblsp White Vinegar
1 tsp Granulated Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Paprika
1/4 tsp Sugar
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and stir.  Simmer 5-10 minutes.  Remove from heat and cool.  Yeilds just under 1 1/2 cups of Taco Sauce.
Will keep in refrigerator 4 days.  You can also freeze.

What if a government agency that claims the responsibility for protecting you from such treachery, not only looked the other way, but was complicit in this exchange?

Everyone has heard of Bayer aspirin, it is a household name. Bayer AG also manufactures numerous other products, from pesticides to medicine for hemophiliacs called Factor 8.

In 1984 Bayer became aware that several batches of this Factor 8 contained HIV. They knew this because there was an outbreak of HIV among hemophiliac children, and this outbreak was traced back to Bayer.

Unable to sell their Factor 8 in the US, Bayer, with the FDA’s permission, (yes that’s right, the FDA allowed Bayer to potentially kill thousands) sold this HIV infected medicine to Argentina, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore after February 1984, according to the documents obtained by the NY Times

The documents showed how Cutter Biological, a division of Bayer, shipped more than 100,000 vials of unheated concentrate, worth more than $4 million, after it began selling the safer product.

The result of this sale of HIV tainted medication ended up infecting tens of thousands and killing thousands. Thousands of innocent children and adults have died at the hand of this corporation and no punitive action has been taken against them. The health department leaders in Argentina, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore were all imprisoned, while the US FDA continues down its hellish path.

When asked about the sale of the tainted Factor 8, Bayer responded, ”Decisions made nearly two decades ago were based on the best scientific information of the time and were consistent with the regulations in place.” This can be interpreted as Bayer asking the FDA for permission to murder children for profit and the FDA giving its approval. According to the NY Times, the Food and Drug Administration’s regulator of blood products, Dr. Harry M. Meyer Jr., asked that the issue be ”quietly solved without alerting the Congress, the medical community and the public.”

No one in the government nor Bayer have been charged with anything in regards to this matter. Bayer continues to sell its Factor 8 medication to this day.

Sweet Zoey

I want to tell the story of our Zoey. 

She showed-up in our neighborhood in the Spring 2011.

She was scared of everyone, tail tucked between her legs, just a bag of skin and bones.
We and our neighbor left food for her.  She would eat it when no one was around.
After several weeks, she finally would come close to us.  
She loved the kiddos.  
She loved being loved-on.  
We affectionately called her Black Dog.
Eventually, she would nap and sleep on our porches.
She was scared of thunderstorms.  My daughter would sit on the porch with her during a storm and she would try to climb in my daughters lap.

One evening the doorbell rang.
I opened the door to see only Black Dog lying in front of the door.
Off to the side of the porch is Mr Animal Control, a long pole in hand in which he used to reach the doorbell.  Black Dog just lay there.
Mr Animal Control asks me about the the dog, I explain she is a stray and we and our neighbor have been feeding her.
He tells me he has to take her as she has been accused of attacking another dog and going after someone out for a jog.  Mr Accuser shows up in his truck and confirms to Mr Animal Control that this is the dog.
Mr Animal Control proceeds to noose her and take her to the truck.
Tail tucked between her legs and head down, she goes.
He bangs the tailgate of the truck for her to jump up, but instead she drops to the ground, scared-to-death.
Mr Animal Control looks at Mr Accuser and says, "Yeah, she's in attack mode."
I am baffled and heartbroken.
But how can I stick-up for a stray dog.
Mr Animal Control gets her in the truck and takes her away.

Next day I call animal control to inquire of her. 
AC:  "She has 3 days for the owner to claim her, after that it's just a matter of time."
ME:  "Time for what?"
AC:  "Time to Put-Her-Down if we need room for another dog."
WHAT???
ME:   "But, if the owner does not claim her, could we come get her?  She really is a sweet dog!"
AC:  "No ma'am!  She can not return to the neighborhood with those charges against her.  She will be put-down."
I call my neighbor to let her know what is going on.  She, too, is heartbroken.

I call again the next day to inquire of Black Dog.  I talk to the same woman.  No one has claimed her. 

I call again the next day.  This time, the Director of  AC answers the phone.  Still, no claims on Black Dog.  
ME:   "Can we come get her...she really is a sweet dog?"
Ms Director:  "I agree that she is a sweet dog.  Normally, we would not let a dog with that accusation be allowed back in the neighborhood.  But she shows no signs of being aggressive.  I can only let her go if she has a fenced yard."

My neighbor has the fenced yard, so she goes and rescues Black Dog from uncertain death.

We take her to the Vet for a check-up.  
We are told she looks to be Lab / Bulldog mix, approximately 8 yrs old.  
Looks as though she has had several litters of pups.  
Update her vaccinations.
She tests positive for Heart Worms.  We are given options for treatment that are expensive and neither of us can afford.  (Summer of 2012 she did get treatment)

Black Dog is officially adopted by our neighbor  and given the name "Zoey"
Throughout her 1 1/2 years living with our neighbor, Zoey was an escape artist.  Many, many times, she would get off her collar and tie-out leash, out of the fenced in yard, or out the door when opened, and run around the neighborhood.  Sometimes she would show up at our house, and other times my daughter would go after her.  Zoey would see her coming and sit and wait for her to put the leash on her.

December 2012, Zoey escaped, again...for the last time.
They would call her, but Zoey would run-off.
With sickness in the house (stomach-bug and the flu), the neighbors just couldn't handle her and said they were letting her go.  It seemed that she did not want to stay there anymore.

Zoey showed up on our front porch.  She whined to be let in.
She chose to live with us.
During the first few weeks, she escaped off her collar only twice, and never tried again. 
We learned to keep close watch on her if the doors were being opened.
She was happy, content, and oh so sweet.  
She just loved being loved-on.

AND...

She loved to be outside and let the warmth of the sunshine soak into her ol' bones.

She would have rather sat in our laps, and believe me...she tried!  All 80 some pounds of her!
But she was content to sit next to us on the floor or lay across our lap while we gave her much love.

Not Very Lady-Like!

We have no idea what her life was like before she showed up in the Spring of 2011, but while living with us, she ate Organic Food and Dog Food and Treats.

AND...

We gave her a life-time of love.

Unfortunately, this could not reverse all the prior years of the unknown.

August / September 2013 her health declined in just a few short weeks.

Zoey passed away on Friday, September 20 @ 12:20pm.

 We miss her so much!

I Have To Agree...

Even with these past 2 weeks being full of trials and tears...

Like...being surrounded by family and friends for  our celebration of Sukkot / Feast Of Tabernacles

during which were all these trials and tears.

And, leaning on YAH for strength and shalom, which He was so gracious to give.

I'm still trying to make sense of it all.

These Are Strong Words!

Roman Catholic and Protestant Confessions about Sunday   (Taken from Bibilesabbath.org) The vast majority of Christian churches today teach the observance of Sunday,  the first day of the week, as a time for rest and worship. Yet it is generally known and freely admitted  that the early Christians observed the seventh day as the Sabbath. How did this change come about?  History reveals that it was decades after the death of the apostles that a politico-religious system repudiated  the Sabbath of Scripture and substituted the observance of the first day of the week.  The following quotations, all from Roman Catholic sources, freely acknowledge  that there is no Biblical authority for the observance of Sunday,  that it was the Roman Church that changed the Sabbath to the first day of the week. In the second portion of this booklet are quotations from Protestants.  Undoubtedly all of these noted clergymen, scholars, and writers kept Sunday,  but they all frankly admit that there is no Biblical authority for a first-day sabbath. Roman Catholic Confessions James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of our Fathers, 88th ed., pp. 89. "But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify." Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism 3rd ed., p. 174. "Question:  Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept? "Answer:  Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her-she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority." John Laux, A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies (1 936), vol. 1, P. 51. "Some theologians have held that God likewise directly determined the Sunday as the day of worship in the New Law, that He Himself has explicitly substituted the Sunday for the Sabbath. Now the Church ... instituted, by God's authority, Sunday as the day of worship. This same Church, by the same divine authority, taught the doctrine of Purgatory long before the Bible was made. We have, therefore, the same authority for Purgatory as we have for Sunday." Peter R. Kraemer, Catholic Church Extension Society (1975),Chicago, Illinois. "Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts: "1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man. "2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church, instituted by Christ to teach and guide man through life, has the right to change the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages and a thousand other laws. "It is always somewhat laughable, to see the Protestant churches, in pulpit and legislation, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in their Bible." T. Enright, C.S.S.R., in a lecture at Hartford, Kansas, Feb. 18,1884. "I have repeatedly offered $1,000 to anyone who can prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is a law of the holy Catholic Church alone. The Bible says, 'Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.' The Catholic Church says: 'No. By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week.' And lo! The entire civilized world bows down in a reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church." Protestant Confessions Protestant theologians and preachers from a wide spectrum of denominations have been quite candid in admitting that there is no Biblical authority for observing Sunday as a sabbath. Anglican/Episcopal Isaac Williams, Plain Sermons on the Catechism , vol. 1, pp.334, 336. "And where are we told in the Scriptures that we are to keep the first day at all? We are commanded to keep the seventh; but we are nowhere commanded to keep the first day .... The reason why we keep the first day of the week holy instead of the seventh is for the same reason that we observe many other things, not because the Bible, but because the church has enjoined it." Canon Eyton, The Ten Commandments , pp. 52, 63, 65. "There is no word, no hint, in the New Testament about abstaining from work on Sunday .... into the rest of Sunday no divine law enters.... The observance of Ash Wednesday or Lent stands exactly on the same footing as the observance of Sunday." Bishop Seymour, Why We Keep Sunday . We have made the change from the seventh day to the first day, from Saturday to Sunday, on the authority of the one holy Catholic Church." Baptist Dr. Edward T. Hiscox, a paper read before a New York ministers' conference, Nov. 13, 1893, reported in New York Examiner , Nov.16, 1893. "There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will be said, however, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the seventh to the first day of the week .... Where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament absolutely not. "To me it seems unaccountable that Jesus, during three years' intercourse with His disciples, often conversing with them upon the Sabbath question . . . never alluded to any transference of the day; also, that during forty days of His resurrection life, no such thing was intimated. "Of course, I quite well know that Sunday did come into use in early Christian history . . . . But what a pity it comes branded with the mark of paganism, and christened with the name of the sun god, adopted and sanctioned by the papal apostasy, and bequeathed as a sacred legacy to Protestantism!" There is not a single sentence in the New Testament to suggest that we incur any penalty by violating the supposed sanctity of Sunday." " . . . the Christian Sabbath [Sunday] is not in the Scriptures, and was not by the primitive Church called the Sabbath." Disciples of Christ Alexander Campbell, The Christian Baptist, Feb. 2, 1824,vol. 1. no. 7, p. 164. "'But,' say some, 'it was changed from the seventh to the first day.' Where? when? and by whom? No man can tell. No; it never was changed, nor could it be, unless creation was to be gone through again: for the reason assigned must be changed before the observance, or respect to the reason, can be changed! It is all old wives' fables to talk of the change of the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day. "But they err in teaching that Sunday has taken the place of the Old Testament Sabbath and therefore must be kept as the seventh day had to be kept by the children of Israel .... These churches err in their teaching, for Scripture has in no way ordained the first day of the week in place of the Sabbath. There is simply no law in the New Testament to that effect." Methodist Harris Franklin Rall, Christian Advocate, July 2, 1942, p.26. "Take the matter of Sunday. There are indications in the New Testament as to how the church came to keep the first day of the week as its day of worship, but there is no passage telling Christians to keep that day, or to transfer the Jewish Sabbath to that day." John Wesley, The Works of the Rev. John Wesley, A.M., John Emory, ed. (New York: Eaton & Mains), Sermon 25,vol. 1, p. 221. "But, the moral law contained in the ten commandments, and enforced by the prophets, he [Christ] did not take away. It was not the design of his coming to revoke any part of this. Every part of this law must remain in force upon all mankind, and in all ages; as not depending either on time or place, or any other circumstances liable to change, but on the nature of God and the nature of man, and their unchangeable relation to each other." This fourth commandment begins with the word 'remember,' showing that the Sabbath already existed when God Wrote the law on the tables of stone at Sinai. How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they will admit that the other nine are still binding?" Presbyterian T. C. Blake, D.D., Theology Condensed, pp.474, 475. "The Sabbath is a part of the decalogue - the Ten Commandments. This alone forever settles the question as to the perpetuity of the institution . . . . Until, therefore, it can be shown that the whole moral law has been repealed, the Sabbath will stand . . . . The teaching of Christ confirms the perpetuity of the Sabbath."

Thankful...

Easy Fruit Cobbler

PreHeat oven to 350*

In a 9x13 baking pan, put in 
1 Stick of Butter (or 1/2 Stick to cut down on fat)
Place this in the oven while it is preheating til Butter is melted
DON'T FORGET that it is in there or the Butter will burn.
Maybe set your timer for 5 minutes and  keep check on it.  When Butter has melted, remove pan from oven.

Sift into a bowl:
1 C Flour
2/3 C Sugar
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Baking Soda

Add:
3/4 C ButterMilk (or Milk with a splash of vinegar or lemon juice)

Stir til combined.

Pour this batter into the pan. Add as much fruit as you desire on top:
Blueberries or Sliced Peaches or Sliced Apples, Blackberries, Raspberries...

Bake for approximately 20-30 minutes, til golden and set.

Enjoy with Icecream or Whipped Cream or even by itself.

Do You Know Who You Are?

Most would answer, "Yes.  I'm a Child Of God."

In the majority of churches, we are told that Christians (Gentiles, not Jews) are the Bride of Christ.   We are told that Christians are the new chosen people since God divorced the Israelites (Jews).

This is what I was told.  

But wait just a second!  In Matthew chapter 10, what does Jesus (His Hebrew name is Yeshua) say in verses 5 and 6...

 5 These twelve Yeshua sent out with the following instructions: "Don't go into the territory of the Goyim (Gentiles), and don't enter any town in Shomron, 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Isra'el.

Banana Pancakes

1 1/2 C Flour
3 Tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cinnamon (optional)
1 Egg
1 Cup Buttermilk
2 Tbsp Oil
2 Bananas, mashed
*For extra yumminess, add some chocolate chips
OH MY!!!

Combine all dry ingredients and whisk til well blended.
Add wet ingredients and stir til combined.

Place batter on greased hot griddle, according to the size of pancakes you wish to make.
Allow to cook til bubbles form on top and sides start to look dry.
Carefully flip and allow to cook approx. 1-2 minutes.
Remove from griddle and slather with butter.

Muffins, Muffins, and more Muffins...

Basic Muffin Recipe

2 1/4 Cups Flour (I use fresh milled)

2 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1 Cup Sugar OR 1/2 cup Honey

1 Egg

1/2 cup Oil

1 Cup Buttermilk

Preheat oven to 400*F.

Measure dry ingredients into mixing bowl.

Add liquids and mix just til well blended.

Drop by spoonfuls into a 12 cup muffin pan or a 24 cup mini muffin pan.

Bake approx 20 minutes for regular size muffins.

Bake approx 12 minutes for mini muffins.

You can tweak this recipe by adding:

1 Cup Blueberries, 1/2 tsp Nutmeg, 1 tsp Cinnamon, and 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

OR

1 Cup Apple (diced or grated), 1 tsp Cinnamon and 1/8 tsp Ground Cloves

OR

2-3 Bananas (mashed), 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, 1 tsp Vanilla Extract, and 1/2 cup Nuts if desired.
